Vertical Mushroom Cost of Production
Substrate(1.3kg): 5 to 8 rupees
Spawn: 100gm: 10-12 Rupees
Pasteurization Cost: 3 to 5 rupees
Labor and maintenance cost: 5/fruiting bag.
Let us assume the maximum cost, 10+10+5+5= 30 rupees
Revenue and Profit
Total mushroom production from the 2-month cycle: 1.5 kg
The average selling price of raw oyster mushroom in the retail market: 150 to 250 per kg
The average selling price of raw oyster mushrooms in the wholesale market is Rs. 70 to 100
Profit Calculation
Average profit from the retail market: SP-CP = Rs. 120 to 220 rupees per kg (150-30)(250-30)
Average profit from the wholesale market: Rs. (70-30=40)(100-30=70)
Minimum profit – 133 % maximum profit: 733%.
Space Requirements
It would take approximately two grow rooms of size 5000 sq. ft. An area for substrate pasteurization and processing approx. ( 2000 sq. ft.). Other areas can be utilized for substrate storage and food processing. Effectively under 30 decimal of land, all can be easily done.
Scale of Production
This farm structure can produce 300 to 500 fruiting bags per day. Per day production from 300 bags would be approximately 450 kg, per year 164-ton mushrooms. Even if we consider an average selling price of 100/kg, it would mean Rs. 100-30 (cost price)=70 rupees profit per kg. 164000*70=11480000/- (yearly profit). Over one crore per year.
