Integrated Fish, Chicken, Quail, and Vermicompost Farming
In a small space, 2 separate sheds were built, one for poultry and another for quail birds, so-called integrated chicken quail farming. The ground layer is used for the vermicompost bed, and a small fish pond aside from the shed. Here Bird droppings fell to the vermicompost bed. The ground floor can be developed in 2 ways: bed method and pit method. Vermicompost is one of the best fertilizers that are highly useful in raising seedlings and for crop production. Thus, vermicompost produced here can be sold which generates an extra income or can be directly used on agricultural plants available on farms.
Decomposable organic wastes
Animal excreta, kitchen waste, farm residues, and forest litter are commonly used as composting materials. This integrated farm system is to use bird droppings directly in vermicompost and converts them into quality compost.
There are different species of earthworms namely Eisenia foetida (Red earthworm), Eudrilus eugeniae or night crawler, Perionyx excavatus, etcetera. The red earthworm is preferred because of its high multiplication rate and thereby converting the organic matter into vermicompost within 45 to 50 days.
Normally, poultry farm integrated with fish farming. But here in this plan, three more farming ideas are in a single place. Raising Chicken and Quails, for meat or eggs can be integrated with vermicompost. Birds excreta maximize benefits as feeds to earthworms. This reduces the costs of buying fertilizers for farms. Raising chickens over the vermicompost bed has certain advantages: It maximizes the use of space. Saves labor in cleaning manure to maintain poultry house is more hygienic.
Integrated Quail Farming
The quail farming business is very easy, and profitable like other farming ventures such as chicken, turkey, or duck farming business. Almost all types of weather conditions are suitable for starting a quail farming business. It’s very easy to maintain a quail farm because quails are among the smallest species of poultry birds. Quail farming businesses require small initial capital and labor. Quails can be raised along with your other poultry birds for meat or egg production.
Integrated Fish Farming
This is one of the best examples of mixed farming. This type of farming practice in different forms mostly in East and South East Asian countries is one of the critical ecologically balanced sustainable technologies. The technology involves a combination of fish polyculture integrated with crop or livestock production.
Integrated Vermicompost Farming
Vermicompost is becoming popular as a major component of organic farming systems. Vermicomposting is a method of preparing enriched compost with the use of earthworms. It is one of the easiest methods to recycle agricultural wastes and produce quality compost. Earthworms consume biomass and excrete it in a digested form called worm casts.
Water Quality Parameters
The most important factor in fisheries is water quality. Water quality is the suitability of water for the survival and growth of fish. The major Challenge in this type of farm is preventing disease spread and maintaining good livestock health conditions. The initial investment could be more, but still, it depends on the scale you develop.
Benefits of Integrated Chicken Quail Fish and Vermicompost Farm
Better land and waste management.
Birds farm can be raised with the intention of meat or eggs.
Fish and vermicompost are beneficial in generating extra income; Fertilizer preparation on your farm reduces your costs of buying fertilizers from somewhere else.
Increased output with economic benefits.
